Holland at MATKA Fair
Dutch stand at Matka 2008

Nordic Travel Fair MATKA 2008 was arranged in Helsinki on 17-20 January 2008. The fair was visited by almost 85,000 visitors, some 16,000 of which were professionals.

The Netherlands Embassy participated in the fair together with the Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions. The Holland stand attracted numerous visitors from Finland as well as the neighbouring Baltic countries and Russia. In addition to the traditional spring visits to Keukenhof and the cultural visits to Amsterdam and other cities, people were looking for new interesting places to visit in the Netherlands. Family tours including camping, biking and amusement parks were popular alongside canal cruises and visits to castles and parks.

During the professional days on 17-18 January people who visited the Holland stand tried to guess how many wooden shoes there were in a glass container. The right answer was 288. The winner of the diamond was Susanna Yli-Rahko-Aaltonen from Vantaa. The winners of the small quiz, arranged during the last two days of the fair, will receive their surprise prizes by mail in February.

Congratulations to all winners!
