The Queen’s Hayfield Lodge –project and the Finnish Sydänmaa Village Association are looking for associations, clubs or other specialist / enthusiastic groups that would be interested in international cooperation.

The Sydänmaa Village Association is located in the town of Kärsämäki, which has 3000 inhabitants. The association is one of the many active citizen organisations in Finland. The general aim is to develop the village as a good place to live in. The village has experience of both local and international projects.

The overall project aim is to build a Queen’s Hayfield Lodge in this Finnish countryside village, more precisely in the Sydänmaa Village swamp area, Kärsämäki. The background of the project has arisen from the true story of balloon messages of a new-born princess that travelled from Roermond to Kärsämäki in 1938. The swamp area is the same where the balloons landed almost 70 years ago. The lodge will look like the traditional hayfield lodges did in the 1930’s in Finland and the interior will be honouring the Dutch link and the story of the balloon.

The areas of possible co-operation are:
-         Finnish – Dutch cooperation          
-         traditional culture / farming culture / the way of life in the 1930´s
-         history
-         nature travelling
-         hunting, fishing
-         organisations of citizens
-         music
-         architecture
-         churches

The cooperation focus and form can grow from these general interests of cooperating partners. We are looking for:

-         connections and contact information
