The main task of the economic section is to promote Dutch economy, Dutch commercial interests
in Finland and bilateral cooperation by:
- Organizing seminars, trade delegations and exhibitions
- Reporting on macroeconomic developments in Finland
- Helping Dutch companies into Finnish markets
- Assisting Finnish importers and agents in finding Dutch suppliers
- Strengthening cooperation in the field of innovation and new technologies
The Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands has established a network of attachés (TWA’s) for Science and Technology in several countries. This has been done as the Netherlands believe the economy will prosper from innovation and new technology. Information on technology and technology policy is gathered to serve Dutch companies, knowledge centres, universities and the government. As Finland is a leader at present in terms of innovation and competitiveness, the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Helsinki hosts a TWA at it’s economic section.
Commercial matters relating to trade of agricultural or food products between Finland and the Netherlands is handled by the Attaché of agriculture at the Agricultural Department in Copenhagen, Denmark.
